waiting

November 21, 2007

well, we had our weekly meet where everyone decided what needed to be done, so I did some alterations to the lay-out of the site… minor details now, I’m pleased to say. Discussions were had about the url, as the one we want appears to be taken… though there’s nothing being done with it. Tut. Don’t know if that got resolved or not, nor do I know when some of the other members are gonna get some of the images together so we can finish this thing, but there’s not a lot to do now.

Don’t remember if I’ve posted this or not, but we’ve now got a Yahoo email set-up for the company, a facebook, and a myspace as well. it’s www.myspace.com/deadpixel_uk ! go look, and if you’ve got a myspace add us!

205

Ok, well a write-up about 205 today
We all had a little meeting before, and brought together our ideas about what we’ve got so far, ways we could improve it, and things we wanted to add. Although there was some ‘artistic differences’ (how the menu should look!) within the group, a general consensus was agreed!
The actual meeting with Hugo seemed to go well, and he liked our progression of the site, and the ideas that we had for the marketing aspects. After that, I went to Drake Circus, and enquired about taking some shots in there to compliment our coursework, and spoke to a rather helpful person, who saw no issue with is doing so, as long as we wrote to them in person to gain permission (something to do with paper work and red tape I should imagine). So all in all, we’re doing ok.
We’re banging our heads together to get a working logo at the moment, as we all have an idea or two about what sort of look we want, and with five of us in the group… there’s a lot of ideas! I don’t think it’ll take us long to come to agreement though, as we’re all starting to head down a similar path, and it’s literally just a matter of ironing out a few niggles now

Fingers crossed for a launch soon!

so far…

205

So; our marketing project. It’s actually starting to take form now… which I’m most happy about! We’ve deliberated, discussed and decided on so many things, but we weren’t actually doing much. We’ve now got a working name (that hasn’t changed in a number of weeks now!) and have a framework of a site up and running. The ‘what we do and how we do it’ hasn’t changed either since we first developed the idea. Now I think the next step is to populate the site, and launch it. Only then can we start marketing it. I’m kinda hoping to get something live by this week… something we’d already decided should have happened last week, but with all of us having commitments to not only other modules, but in ‘the real world’ as well, we’ve kind of had to postpone for a bit. None, the less, not deterred by the set back, we’re all now in agreement about the look and feel of the image we’re portraying, and how we’re going to go about it.

The ammount of time and effort I’ve ploughed into getting the site to look and feel the way we all wanted was exhausting to say the least, especially in the earlier days of its design. We all had differing ideas of what our site should look like… I think that’s a good idea though. To have only one person’s vision implemented would have narrowed down the creative scope that our group has… but trying to implement and compromise between five people is a nightmare, especially as it’s all a matter of opinion. There is no right or wrong, as say a piece of program code that either works or it doesn’t, this was all subjective opinion! However, a lot of tea, some css trickery and some Java-script has resulted in something that we’re happy with, so I think we’re going to run with it for the moment, and evolve as required… though after all this time, I think design-wise, we’re pretty much there… Next it’s time for the marketing drive… be prepared for lots of links to our site when it’s launched! You’ve been warned! :)
